Congratulations and welcome to NWU! Now that it’s official, here are to-dos and deadlines. Completing these tasks on time will ensure a smoother transition to campus this fall.

Steps for Class Registration
- Transfer Student Advising Questionnaire
Your academic advisor will use this information to learn more about your interests and goals to aid in developing your course schedule.
Complete the Transfer Student Advising Questionnaire.
- Modern Language Background Survey
The Modern Language Background Survey helps us determine the best language class for you. The survey asks questions about languages you speak or have studied, as well as your interest in continuing your language study at NWU.

- Account Activation
Students who’ve deposited will receive an email from "Nebraska Wesleyan University <do-not-reply [at] mikeshiner.com (do-not-reply[at]nebrwesleyan[dot]edu)> with the subject line "Welcome to Okta at Nebraska Wesleyan University!" to activate their Nebraska Wesleyan accounts. This will allow you to access your NWU email, Self-Service, Canvas and other accounts available to NWU students.
- Advising Appointment
Once you’ve submitted your deposit and completed your Transfer Student Advising Questionnaire, Modern Language Background Survey (if required) and activated your NWU accounts, you will be emailed to schedule an advising appointment once registration for new transfer students begins.
- Request your final transcripts be submitted before the start of the semester
Request that your official college and high school transcripts be sent directly to NWU by one of the following methods:
- A paper copy sent through U.S. Postal Service.
- Electronically through an approved transcript service.
We do not accept transcripts by any other delivery method.
Steps for housing or commuter enrollment
- Complete your housing request
This form informs us of your NWU housing preferences or plans to reside at home or off-campus with an approved exemption. Every student must complete this form, even if you qualify for an exemption. To determine if you qualify for a housing exemption, see the housing exemption form.
Submit your housing preference using the Housing Request Form.
- Complete your commuter certification (if applicable)
If you will live at home with a parent(s) or guardian(s) you need to submit this form.

- Upload a photo for your student ID
Upload a photo to be used on your student ID. Your ID will be distributed at Transfer Student Orientation. The photo must meet the following criteria:
- Current color photo of yourself.
- White smooth background – no other people or objects in photo.
- Sufficient lighting with no shadows.
- Front view – full face filling at least 80% of frame.
- Cropped from just above the top of head to collarbone.
- Eyes open and visible and no glare on eyeglasses.
- No hats or sunglasses.
- 5 MB limit.
- Acceptable file types are gif, jpg, jpeg, png or svg.
- Submit your Parking Tag Request Form
If you plan to park a vehicle on campus, you will need to complete the parking tag request form. Use your NWU login name and password to complete the form. You will also need your license plate number and the make, model, and color of your vehicle.
- Review your room and board contract (if applicable)
If you are living on campus, Residence Life begins communicating housing and roommate assignments via your NWU email. You will need to sign and date the “Room and Board Contract” to formally reserve your space in the residence halls. If you are under the age of 19, a parent/guardian must sign the contract as well.

Steps for health and safety
- Submit your Medical History Report
Use your Nebraska Wesleyan account information to log in to the NWU Student Health Portal to complete the Medical History Form. Once you log in, you will see two forms that you need to complete: Medical History Form and Immunization History Form. These forms gather health and immunization history for incoming students. We recommend reaching out to your medical provider to gather your health and vaccination records prior to completing these reports.
- Submit your Immunization History Report
Use your Nebraska Wesleyan account information to log in to the NWU Student Health Portal to complete the Immunization History Form. Once you log in, you will see two forms that you need to complete: Medical History Form and Immunization History Form. These forms gather health and immunization history for incoming students. We recommend reaching out to your medical provider to gather your health and vaccination records prior to completing these reports.
- Complete your New Student Accessibility Application (if applicable)
NWU is committed to providing access to educational opportunities and full participation in the campus community. Once you’ve submitted this form, Accessibility Services staff will contact you to arrange an intake interview and determine reasonable accommodations.

Steps for payment and financial information
- Review your tuition statement and payment plan options and apply for federal loans
You will have quick and easy access to your tuition statement through Self-Service. Tuition payments are due the first Friday of each semester.
- Apply for an on-campus job
You will receive an email in mid-July about on-campus jobs. You can search and apply for available jobs on Handshake, NWU’s career planning platform. Most student employment positions are posted within the first two weeks of each semester.
